Cognac & Armagnac

Chateau de Briat Bas-Armagnac "Hor d'age"

Retail Price$64.99
Chateau de Briat is a well-renowned house owned by the Pichon-Longueville family (of Bordeaux fame) since 1864. They are a small production house (only 130 barrels currently) so the distilling and aging is hands on. The Hor d'Age is 14 years in barrel with sweet fruit on the mid-palate and toffee, oak and chocolate notes on nose and front palate. An excellent armagnac for the cognac lover. Imported by Charles Neal.

Chateau de Briat Bas-Armagnac 1985
Retail Price$114.99
This a rich, voluptuous, armagnac...a silky, seamless sibling to the Hor d'age. Big, rich toffee notes, with huge fruit on the mid and back palate. The nose shows hints of toasted almonds and apricots with A hint of spice. I cannot recommend this armagnac highly enough. Imported by Charles Neal.

Chateau Ravignan Bas-Armagnac 1979
Retail Price$105.99
The chateau has been owned by the Ravignan family since 1732, with a long history of distilling excellent armagnacs. The 1979 is a fabulous Expression with vanilla, and apricot on the nose with rich plum notes, and candied notes (marzipan, possibly?) on the palate. A long, full-bodied finish lasts for over a minute. Excellent armagnac!! Imported by Charles Neal.

The Glendronach distillery is a big favorite amongst the regular customers here at the Merchant (we carry the 12 and 15 year), but it is rare to receive an older bottling of this distillery.
