This is a classic wine from a historic producer. The Nittardi 2019 Chianti Classico Casanuova di Nittardi La Doghessa (featuring special artwork on the front label each new vintage) is an organic expression of Sangiovese that is fermented with spontaneous yeasts and aged in tonneaux for 15 months. The wine reveals generous fruit tones with plum, black cherry and sweet earth. There is a good amount of extraction or richness in this vintage, and this translates especially well in terms of mouthfeel. Production is 30,000 bottles, and La Doghessa always offers terrific value.
