This wine is being rereleased to the market following a 30-year absence, and I know that the Borgogno family is especially excited to have it back. The Virna 2020 Barbaresco Montersino comes from a vineyard site that straddles the towns of Alba and Treiso. The Montersino shows nice balance, especially in terms of its intensity, which is marked but also finessed. The tannins are silky, and the wine ends on a pretty dry note with lingering blue flower and violet. Only 4,000 bottles were made.
